Description

The Indian Army SWATI is a truck-mounted weapon locating radar (WLR) utilizing a passive array radar to accurately locate enemy artillery guns within a 50 kilometers range. This advanced sensor system was developed in India. The SWATI has been designed to track multiple mortars (from 81mm), artillery shells (from 105mm) and rockets (from 120mm) simultaneously fired from different locations. Besides, this sensor can be used to adjust fire of friendly artillery following Direction of Own artillery Fire (DOOAF) principle. The Indian Army plans call for the procurement of 30 such systems beginning in March 2017.
