Description
The Darussalam class offshore patrol vessels (OPVs) were built by Lurssen Werft in Germany for the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN). Three ships were commissioned by the RBN in 2011 as replacement for the cancelled Nakhoda Ragamou class ships. These 80-meter long vessels are equipped with a 57mm dual purpose gun and four MM40 Exocet anti-ship missiles. Besides a large aft deck allows for operations of an helicopter. The electronic package includes Thales Sting EO MK2 fire-control radar, Terma Scanter 4100 air and surface search radar, Zeiss MEOS II electro-optics and two Furano navigation radars. These ships are intended to carry out anti-surface warfare (ASuW) with limited air defense capabilities.
