Description
The S-400M (unofficial designation) is a prospective upgraded variant of the S-400 air defense system expected to include longer range engagement capabilities against airborne targets and hypersonic missiles. The S-400M is expected to leverage some key technologies from the S-500 missile system such as the 40N6M interceptor and longer-range radar systems. The upgraded S-400 missile system is expected to be fielded by 2030 depending on the Russian Ministry of Defense which now focuses on mass production of S-500 and S-550 weapon systems.
