It is similar to the S-500 air defense system sharing some key components, sensors and weapons with the S-300V4 missile system. The 98L6AE Yenisey-E radar capable of detecting stealth and UAV aircraft and the 9M82MDE interceptor are the key components of the new missile system. The missile launcher comes from the S-300V4 with each missile system having up to four missile launch vehicles each equipped with two 9M82MDE interceptors. The Abakan system has been designed to be ready for combat operations in just three minutes. The non-strategic missile system is oriented for the export market nevertheless the Russian Army expects to deploy it in the near future. The Abakan missile system was unveiled in late 2021 and is expected to be deployed within 2022.
