Description
The Type 517M is a naval early warning radar operating in the VHF band with an instrumented range of 350 km. It is capable of locating stealth aircraft. Building upon the design concepts of its predecessors, the Type 317 and Type 517, the Type 517M features an improved antenna that provides better accuracy in angle determination. A visual distinguishing characteristic of the Type 517M is that its center Yagi antennas are longer than its outer antennas.
