Hyunmoo-5 South Korean Medium-Range Ballistic Missile
Hyunmoo-5

The Hyunmoo-5 is a South Korean medium-range ballistic missile that boasts a warhead payload of 8 to 9 tons, making it one of the heaviest conventional warheads ever fitted to a ballistic missile. Designed specifically for deep-target penetration, the Hyunmoo-5 is capable of destroying fortified underground facilities that are over 100 meters deep. Its considerable size and range limitations place it in a distinct category, setting it apart from traditional intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) and standard medium-range missiles. The Hyunmoo-5 is optimized for high-speed, deep-penetration strikes within the Korean Peninsula and adjacent threat zones. Its primary mission is to neutralize underground command centers, missile silos, and weapons of mass destruction (WMD) infrastructure in North Korea, even during high-alert conditions.
