Description

The Rocks is a long-range bunker buster missile developed by Rafael to meet the requirements of the Israeli Air Force (IAF). The missile has been designed to destroy hardened targets deep underground utilizing a penetrating warhead from safe standoff ranges. The missile is capable of taking out surface targets when equipped with a blast fragmentation warhead. Besides, the missile can take out stationary and mobile targets even with GPS (Global Positioning System) countermeasures. The Rocks missile uses Inertial Navigation System (INS) and GPS for mid-course navigation while the end game is done using an electro-optical (EO) sensor. The missile uses high speed to reach the target area to minimize air defense interception. Rafael unveiled the Rocks missile during Aero India exhibition in February 2019. Israel may use the new weapon released from the F-16I fighter to target Iranian underground facilities across the Middle East.
