The Vikhr-M is an upgraded variant being carried out by the Kalashnikov Concern and intended to equip both the Ka-52M and the Mi-28NM attack helicopters. The Vikhr-M missile has a maximum speed of 610 meters per second (roughly Mach 2) and a maximum range of 10,000 meters allowing it to counter both armored vehicles and airborne targets. It is likely that the range of the Vikhr-M missile will exceed the 10 kilometers figure maybe reaching 12-15 kilometers instead. The missile can fly at altitudes between 10 and 4,000 meters. The Russian Armed Forces are expected to begin the fielding of the new missile in the 2023-2025 timeframe.
