Description
The North Korean Navy’s Nampo class of multi-purpose stealth corvette is intended to conduct anti-surface warfare (ASuW) missions with limited air defense capabilities. Besides, they can conduct anti-submarine warfare missions. These vessels are powered by diesel engines and feature stealth design and a small flight deck for a single Mi-4 helicopter. The weapon system includes a 76mm naval gun, four Uran/kh-35 anti-ship missiles, Igla surface-to-air missiles, two AK-230M close-in weapon systems (CIWS), 2x2 torpedo tubes, four RBU-1200 anti-submarine rocket launchers. The North Korean Navy commissioned two vessels in 2013 and 2014.
