Expert

The Expert unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is being developed by AS Yakovlev design bureau is intended to provide airborne reconnaissance day/night and environmental monitoring. The information gathered by the Expert's TV or infrared imaging payload is transmitted in real-time to the UAV's ground control station. In addition, environmental sensors can be integrated on the Expert. Basically, Expert is a low-altitude, lightweight, fixed-wing aircraft provided with a single 10-hp turboprop engine mounted on the central upper fuselage. A single Expert surveillance system comprises up to three air vehicles, a ground control station, a launcher/catapult and servicing equipment. Expert air vehicle is launched using a catapult and is recovered landing on unpaved airfields. The whole system can be carried by a single minivan-type car and requires a two-man crew. Expert can remain on station at ranges of over 50 to 100 km for six hours.
