Description

Dassault Mirage IV was a twin-engine, two-seat, supersonic, nuclear attack aircraft derived from Mirage III tactical fighter. It featured a delta-wing and was powered by two Snecma Atar 9K engines rated at 15,875 pounds of thrust each with afterburning. In its nuclear deterrence role, Mirage IV was equipped with an ASMP nuclear-capable supersonic cruise missile. The French Air Force ordered 62 aircraft with the first one achieving Initial Operational Capability in 1964. In the 1990s and 2000s Mirage IVP were used to conduct reconnaissance flights. The last Mirage IV, a IVP model, arrived at the French Air Museum on June 30, 2005. From 1964 through 2005, Mirage IVs logged 337,000 flight hours.
