Design The Type 72 SP landmine is believed to refer to an export version for tropical use of the Chinese Type 72 Metallic which is a copy of the Russian TM-46 with a few modifications. In this variant, sand-coloured paint has been sprayed over the original olive green paint (as used on most Chinese landmines) and this is visible around the internal voids and wells. The top of the landmine is crimped to the rest of the body and has a domed appearance.
Delay The landmine anti-handling device has a 20min delay for arming and is very sensitive to any movement.
