Description
The Jericho is a Short Range Ballistic Missile developed based in French technology in the 1960s and deployed by Israel during the 1970s. It has a range of 500 kilometers carrying a 500 kg nuclear or chemical payload. Its primary role is to provide deterrence against Arab nations that could threaten Israel. It was retired from active service in the 1990s and replaced by the more capable Jericho II ballistic missile.
