KF51 Panther
KF51 Panther

The KF51 Panther is a new main battle tank concept developed by Rheinmetall and introduced at Eurosatory exhibition in June 2022. The new tank features a fully digital and modular architecture while leveraging the high mobility of the Leopard 2 tank. The manned turret features a 130mm gun (Future Gun System) and a variety of remote weapon stations and loitering munitions such as HERO 120. The KF51 Panther has been designed to operate along drones and unmanned ground vehicles. The standard variant of the Panther tank has a crew of three-man with the 130mm having an automatic loading system. The modular architecture will allow integration of an unmanned turret or develop a fully unmanned version of the tank. The protection measures of the tank include passive and reactive armor, active protection systems and Top Attack Protection System (TAPS). Rheinmetall unveiled the new 59-ton KF51 Panther main battle tank at Eurosatory exhibition in June 2022. Rheinmetall expects to deliver the first functioning prototype of the KF51 Panther main battle tank in early 2025. In December 2023, Hungary and Rheinmetall signed a EUR 288 million agreement for the development of the Panther KF 51 EVO main battle tank outfitted with a 120mm L55A1 gun.
