The Caesar Mark II is a self-propelled howitzer based upon a 6x6 truck system featuring an improved armored cab with Level 2 mine and ballistic protection. The Caesar Mark II will be powered by a 460-hp engine, a new automatic gearbox and a new chassis. The French Armed Forces are expected to get the first of 109 Caesar Mark II artillery systems by 2026 and the last one by 2031. The French Army has two options: procure 109 new built systems or procure 33 new built systems and upgrade 76 Caesar Mark I artillery systems.
