ECRS Mk1
The ECRS Mk1 (European Common Radar System) is an X-band active electronically scanned array (AESA) airborne radar developed by HENSOLDT AG of Germany in collaboration with Indra. Designed for installation in German and Spanish Eurofighter combat aircraft, it builds upon elements of its predecessor, the Captor-E/Mk0. The radar incorporates new digital multichannel receivers and over 1,400 broadband transmit-receive modules (TRMs), which enhance radar functions such as target recognition and classification, agility, and electronic protection measures (EPM), while also extending electronic warfare capabilities. A variant, the ECRS Mk2, is being developed by Leonardo for the Royal Air Force, with flight tests anticipated in the final quarter of 2023 aboard a Eurofighter test aircraft.
