Fuze
The M430 and the M430A1 can use either the M549 or M549A1 fuze and except for markings, cartridges are externally identical.
Charge
Grenades have a shaped-charge effect designed to penetrate 51 millimeters (2.00 inches) and 76 millimeters (3.00 inches) of steel, respectively.
Note
Upon the firing pin igniting the primer and the propellant, gases are vented through the vent holes in the upper portion of the propellant chamber into the low-pressure chamber.
This generates pressure to propel the grenade out of the launcher.
