K239
The K239 Chunmoo is a Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) developed by Hanwha Corporation to meet the requirements of the Republic of Korea Army (RoKA). The K239 MLRS has been designed to fire 131mm K33 rockets (2x20), 230mm KM26A2 rockets (2x6) and 239mm GPS-guided rockets (2x6) at ranges of 36 km, 45 km and 80 km respectively. The K239 rocket artillery system is integrated onto a Doosan DSL 8x8 high mobility truck system. The K239 Chunmoo development was completed between 2009 and 2013 with the RoKA taking delivery of the first system in 2014 and declaring initial operational capability in 2015. The rocket artillery system has been adopted by South Korea and the United Arab Emirates with several European countries having intentions of procuring the system. Within the modernization effort of the K239 multi-caliber rocket artillery system, South Korea is intending to integrate two new longer-range weapons. A new GPS-guided rocket is intended to hit targets at distances of up to 200 kilometers while the 600mm KTSSM-2 tactical ballistic missile would hit targets at distances of up to 290 kilometers. A single K239 system would carry four 400mm rockets and two KTSSM-2 missiles.
