Description
The AMCA early design phase was completed in early 2015 and may enter service by 2025. In February 2015 India cancelled an order for 126 Rafale aircraft from France under the MMRCA (Medium Multi-Role Combat Aircraft) program paving the way for the indigenously developed AMCA. As of 2017, the Indian Air Force plans call for the AMCA replacing the Mig-29, Mirage 2000 and Jaguar fleets by 2030. India plans call for the procurement of 40 AMCA Mk I in the 2040s.
