Description

The US Air Force F-55 is a prospective aircraft based upon the F-35A aircraft but powered by two engines. The F-55 is expected to deliver sixth-generation combat aircraft capabilities at an affordable cost. Lockheed Martin should develop this new fighter as part of the Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) initiative. Up to 300 aircraft would be procured to complement 185 F-47 sixth-generation fighters in the 2040s.
