Description

The Royal Thai Navy Ratanakosin, also known as Type PFMM, class multi-purpose corvettes were designed and built in the United States of America to carry out anti-surface (ASuW), anti-submarine (ASW) and anti-air warfare (AAW). The propulsion system features two diesel engines developing 14,730-bhp and a top speed of 26 knots. The sensor package includes DA-05 air and surface search radar and DSQS-21C hull-mounted sonar. The weapon system consists of eight RGM-84 Harpoon anti-ship missiles, one Albatros air defense system with one 8-cell missile launcher 24 Aspide missiles, one OTO 76mm gun, one dual 40mm anti-aircraft gun, two 20mm guns and two triple 12.75-inch torpedo tubes. The Royal Thai Navy commissioned two ships in 1986 and 1987.
