The MIC-233114 Tiger-M is an improved variant of the GAZ-2230 Tiger armored vehicle carried out by the specialists of the Military Engineering Center, a part of the Military Industrial Company (MIC). The new Tiger is powered by a Russian YMZ-5347-10 multi-fuel diesel engine fully compliant with Euro-4 emissions requirements. The new turbocharged and intercooled engine develops 215-hp compared to 205-hp in the basic Tiger. The Tiger-M also features a series of improvements to fix the shortcomings identified during the operational use of the Tiger by both police and military customers. Besides, the Tiger-M 4x4 armored vehicle introduces other improvements to meet the requirements of the Russian Federation Armed Forces. The Tiger-M armored vehicle was unveiled at the INTERPOLITEX exhibition in late October 2010. The Russian Ministry of Defense ordered a first batch from Arzamas to be delivered by the end of 2010. The Tiger-M has been designed to transport cargo and personnel, towing trailers and receive mission specific equipment for military operators. Performance, reliability, ergonomics, ballistic and mine protection have been added or improved for this new version of the Tiger. The vehicle now has a new braking system and a new auxiliary brake system with pneumatic actuator for mountainous terrain. Other key elements are improved armor protection for the engine, improved system sealing all doors, air conditioning, more powerful heating system from 12 kW to 16 kW, and increased number of seats from six to nine depending on the vehicle's arrangement. Overall, the Tiger-M offers a level of protection equivalent to NATO STANAG 4569 level 3 against mines and armor piercing ammunition.
