Description
The PMP is a mobile floating pontoon bridge system developed by the former Soviet Union during World War II to be deployed by KrAZ-214 trucks. Every pontoon covers 12 meters and up to 32 such pontoons can be assembled together allowing crossing of water obstacles of up to 390 meters wide. Typically the PMP pontoons are deployed along with BMK-T watercrafts that allow for easy assembly or serve as ferry with BMK-T acting as tug boats transporting manpower and equipment on the pontoon from one side to another of the river. Nowadays, the Russian Army uses the PMP floating pontoons mounted on KrAZ-255 trucks.
