Description

The AN/APX-76 is an L-band secondary surveillance radar (SSR) air-to-air interrogator designed for interceptor and other military aircraft. Operating at 1030 MHz for interrogation and 1090 MHz for reply, it supports Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) Mark X and Mark XII standards. The AN/APX-76A variant utilizes a transmitter with pencil-triodes, while the AN/APX-76B and AN/APX-76C versions are equipped with solid-state transmitters. This interrogator, manufactured by Hazeltine, entered production in 1967, featuring a peak power of 2 kW, an average power of 20 W, and a pulse repetition time (PRT) of less than 400 Hz.
