Description

The Philippine Navy’s Miguel Malvar class of multi-purpose frigates built by Hanwha Defense (HD) and Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) based upon the HDF-3100/HDC-3100 project. The ship propulsion system consists of a Combined Diesel and Diesel (CODAD) arrangement developing 25 knots. The weapon system includes 16 vertical launch surface-to-air missiles, eight anti-ship missiles, 2x3 torpedoes, one 76mm OTO Melara Super Rapid naval gun, one 35mm Gokdeniz close-in weapon system and four 12.7mm machine guns. Besides, these ships are provided with a flight deck and hangar for 10-12 tons helicopter. The Philippine Navy plan calls for the procurement of two vessels in 2025 and 2026.
