Description

The People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) Divine Eagle is a long-range, High Altitude, Long Endurance (HALE) unmanned air vehicle (UAV) designed to detect stealth enemy aircraft and surface ships far from the Chinese mainland. The Divine Eagle early warning aircraft could be deployed against cruise missile and stealth bombers as well as providing support for hunting of US Navy’s aircraft carriers in the Pacific. The Divine Eagle existence was revealed in early 2015 and is the largest UAV developed so far worldwide. The aircraft will be fitted with several radar systems such as an Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), Airborne Moving Target Indicator (AMTI) and Ground Moving Target Indicator (GMTI). The AMTI is especially well suited for tracking low altitude flying objects such as cruise missiles.
