Description

The 9M120F is a member of the Ataka missile family and is fitted with a high explosive (HE) fuel-air explosive warhead designed to suppress fire emplacements, bunkers, soft-skinned and lightly armored vehicles, aviation materiel, and sheltered personnel. The warhead has an explosive power similar to 9.5 kilograms of TNT. The 9M120F missile is intended to fire from Shturm-V systems deployed on Mi-24V, Mi-28NE and Mi-8AMTSh (Mi-171Sh) helicopters and from Shturm-S systems mounted on the 9P149 combat vehicle. Typically a land platform will be provided with 12 missiles, Mi-24V and Mi-8 helicopters with eight missiles and the Mi-28NE attack helicopter with 16 missiles.
