Description
The Kuaizhou-1 (KZ-1) and Kuaizhou-1A (KZ-1A), speedy vessel in English, is a lightweight, quick reaction, solid-fuel, space rocket family developed to place small payloads into Low Earth Orbit (LEO). Typically these launch rockets are in charge of placing research microsatellites into LEO orbit with short notice. The KZ-1 rocket can carry payloads of 430 kg to orbits of 500 kilometers. The improved KZ-1A was introduced in 2017 and can carry payloads of 200-to-250 kg to orbits of 500 to 700 kilometers. The first KZ-1 rocket was launched in 2013 with the development starting in 2009 under the management of China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation (CASIC).
