Description

The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) Taigei is a new class of conventionally powered attack submarines with oceanic reach. These boats are being built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries for 76 billion Yen each. With a displacement submerged of 3,000 tons, 84 meters long and a crew of 70-man these submarines will be replacement for the Oyashio class. The lead ship is expected to be commissioned in March 2022.
