Description

The Kamaz Typhoon is a new family of armored car and truck vehicle systems designed to meet the requirements of the Russian Army and foreign export customers. The design and development phase was carried out between 2010 and 2013 with the demonstration phase expected to complete in 2014. These vehicles feature modular architecture and V-shaped hulls to withstand the detonation of mines and improvised explosive devices (IEDs). These wheeled vehicles feature central tyre inflation system (CTIS), five surveillance cameras providing 360-degree around the vehicle, additional add-on armor kits and optionally air conditioning as well as other refinements. The armor protection is stated at level 5 withstanding impacts by ammunition of 7.62mm or up to 14.5mm in the most heavily armored versions.
