Description
The M0.1.01.04M is a 220mm unguided rocket equipped with a thermobaric warhead for close combat in support of armored formations. The rocket was introduced in 1985 by the Soviet Union for employment in Afghanistan. The maximum range of the weapon is 6 to 8 kilometers with a dead zone or minimum range of 400 meters. More recently the thermobaric rocket has been employed successfully in Iraq and Syria against the Islamic State in 2015 and 2016.
