Description
The New Lightweight Torpedo (NLT) is being developed by Saab for the Swedish Navy under the its underwater capabilities for the 2015-2024 period. The NLT is a new generation 400mm torpedo derived from the proven Torpedo 45 and is optimized for shallow-water anti-submarine warfare operations in the Baltic Sea. It will deliver significant performance improvements to deal with evolving threats in international scenarios. Sweden ordered a first batch of torpedoes in May 2016 and Finland placed an order for its Hamina-class vessels in January 2018.
