Description

The Type 58 Chinese Anti-Personnel Mine is a high-explosive (HE), pressure-actuated, anti-personnel (AP), blast landmine a direct copy of the Russian PMN landmine.

Pressure Plate The landmine has a flat rubber pressure plate, reinforced by a rigid plastic insert, surrounded by a bakelite body. The pressure plate is secured by a thin metal band and tensioning clip. Within the landmine, the pressure plate bears on a spring plunger with a window in it.
Fuze The fuze runs transversely through the landmine body, with the arming delay assembly and safety pin protruding from one side.
Detonator The opposite end of the transverse channel houses a stab-sensitive detonator and booster, in a capsule, all retained by a screw-in plug.
Charge The main TNT charge is cast into the cavities surrounding the fuze mechanism.
Note The Type 58 is generally black all over, other than the brown fuze cap and detonator plug, the PMN on the other hand, has a brown body.
