Description
The Islamic Republic of Iran Simorgh is a small, two-stage, space launch vehicle designed indigenously with the aim to put light/compact payloads into low Earth orbits (LEO). The rocket is capable of lifting a 550-pound (250 kilogram) payload to an altitude of 500 kilometers. The first launch was carried out successfully from the Imam Khomeini Iranian Space Agency on July 27, 2017. The Simorgh space launch vehicle project was first unveiled in 2010.
