Description
The Project 21180M is a smaller and cheaper version of the Project 21180 icebreaker and is intended to serve in the Russian Northern and Pacific fleets. These 4,000-ton class icebreakers are capable of breaking ice with a thickness of up to 1.5 meters and are powered by diesel engines and generators. The Russian Navy plans call for the procurement of two vessels to be commissioned by the Northern and Pacific fleets by 2027.
