Description
The BAT and BAT-M are military bulldozers designed and produced in the former Soviet Union on the basis of the T-54 main battle tank chassis. These vehicles feature a prominent, non-armored truck-style cabin for the crew along with the tracked chassis. The BAT and BAT-M engineer vehicles were introduced in the 1960s and 1970s respectively. They feature a dozer blade at the front of the vehicle and a small crane. These vehicles were in use in the former Soviet Union and several countries worldwide with about 35,000 vehicles being manufactured. They have been replaced by the heavier and better protected BAT-2 engineer vehicle within the Russian Army.
