Description
The Russian Hypersonic Space Drone is a reusable unmanned spacecraft being developed by the Russian Space Agency Roscosmos to carry out special missions in Low Earth Orbit (LEO). The single engine drone will be released by M-55 high altitude geophysical research aircraft at very high altitude. The drone is expected to return to Earth using parachutes. The engine is the same used on upper stage of the Soyuz rocket called Breeze M. The first flight is planned for 2023 and each should be able to carry out 50 missions at least. The drone will be able to reach a maximum altitude of 160 kilometers and a top speed of at least Mach 7 (7,000+ kilometers per hour).
