Endurance

The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) Endurance is a class of Landing Ship Tank (LST) provided with flight deck allowing operation of up to two rotary-wing aircraft (10t class) and well dock for landing crafts. Besides, the ship can carry up to 20 armored vehicles. ST Engineering designed and built four ships which were delivered to the RSN in 2000 and 2001. These LSTs have been deployed in support to Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief in Aceh as well as Peace Support Operations in the Northern Arabian Gulf. The Endurance-class vessels are powered by two diesel engines developing 12,000-shp and driving two pitch-controlled propellers. Cruising at 15 knots the ship can cover ranges of 5,000 nautical miles. Self-defense equipment includes one OTO Melara 76mm naval gun, two Mistral surface-to-air missile systems, and two 12.7mm machine guns. All in, the Endurance-class ships can serve in missions focusing on personnel and equipment transport, fleet logistics support and command, search and rescue, and disaster relief.
