KAPLAN APC Turkish Armored Personnel Carrier (APC)
KAPLAN APC

The KAPLAN APC (Armored Personnel Carrier) is a next-generation tracked platform designed by FNSS to meet the requirements of future battlefields. Its design architecture ensures a high level of survivability in combat, featuring advanced ballistic protection, top-tier mine protection systems, and sufficient firepower. The KAPLAN APC exemplifies FNSS's expertise in tracked vehicle design and incorporates all advancements from the Kaplan MT development. This vehicle can carry up to 13 soldiers, including the gunner, driver, and commander. It is capable of high-speed movement on both roads and cross-country terrain, allowing it to operate in various climates. The advanced suspension system is engineered to minimize vehicle vibration and enhance stability. Additionally, it features an open-architecture electronics infrastructure that facilitates the easy integration of various mission equipment, such as a Battlefield Management System and 360-degree situational awareness cameras, providing day and night vision for both crew and dismounts. The KAPLAN APC is equipped with modular survivability systems to effectively address the evolving threats on the battlefield. It includes protection packages designed to defend against ballistic threats, mines, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs). There is also an option for an active protection system to counter anti-tank missiles and rocket-propelled grenades. Other features of the vehicle include an automatic fire suppression system, air conditioning, and CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) defense measures, which create a sealed environment within the vehicle. These features protect crew members from toxic contaminants, ensuring their survival and combat effectiveness even in hazardous conditions. The modular design of the KAPLAN APC allows it to be configured for a wide range of missions, including mechanized infantry, reconnaissance, command and control, force protection, medical evacuation, recovery, combat engineering, and both direct and indirect fire support. All variants are based on a new generation common armored combat vehicle platform, boasting a power-to-weight ratio of at least 22 hp/ton (depending on configuration), automatic transmission, and compatibility with modern main battle tanks. A significant advantage of the KAPLAN APC is its high degree of commonality in parts and subsystems with the Kaplan MT and other models in the Kaplan tracked vehicle family. Additionally, it shares common subsystems with the FNSS Marine Assault Vehicle (MAV), an armored amphibious platform currently in service with the Turkish Navy Marine Infantry Brigade. By utilizing proven components from its family, the KAPLAN APC enhances reliability, logistical efficiency, and serviceability. This commonality also reduces logistics burdens, increases mean time between failures (MTBF), and improves mission readiness for users worldwide.
