Description

CEAFAR is an S-band 3D missile guidance radar deployed on Anzac-class frigates of the Royal Australian Navy. This multifunction radar provides capabilities such as 3D volume search, surface search, fire control support, and target classification, even in demanding environments with clutter and jamming. Its modular active phased array antenna can be scaled in size and transmit power, consisting of tile-like blocks of 8x8 radiators that form larger antenna faces. Each module includes a receiver with complete digitization at the intermediate frequency, enabling electronic scanning with virtual antenna patterns and digital beamforming on the receive path. AUSPAR, a joint US-Australian project, represents a high-powered variant of the CEAFAR architecture.
