Description
The Republic of Korea Navy (RoKN) Landing Platform Helicopter (LPH) is a new small aircraft carrier intended to carry 3,000 Marines, 16 F-35B fixed-wing aircraft or alternatively 16 helicopters and 20 armored vehicles. The 30,000-ton LPH is provided with a ski-jump to ease takeoff operations with the F-35B stealth jets at maximum takeoff weight. The RoKN expects to commission the lead ship of this small aircraft carrier class by 2030. The Large Transport Vessel-II project was modified in May 2025. The new ship may be intended to operate drones and cruise missile. It should be commissioned by the end of 2030s.
