Sisu 8x8
Sisu 8x8

The Sisu 8x8 is a high-mobility, high-capacity, all-terrain, high-speed, all-wheel drive tactical truck designed for operation under varying transport conditions with ease of maintenance and repair. Due to its military role, critical components such as electric and pneumatic systems are located in protected places. It is based on standard truck components and shares the same modular cab design with other members of the Sisu Defence military trucks family. Besides, the Sisu Defence tactical trucks can be equipped with add-on armor kits. Sisu 8x8 truck is supplied in special versions and can be modified with ease to meet customer's requirements. This tactical truck is designed for on-road and off-road drive and is provided with an integrated hook system which allows for a low center of gravity and a low overall height. Its reduced height (below 4 meters) enabled air transportation inside a C-130-sized aircraft. Sisu 8x8 is powered by an Euro 4 emissions compliant C13 diesel engine from Caterpillar developing 400-hp of power. This truck system is entitled to transport loads of up to 20 tons. Sisu 8x8 can be equipped with add-armor plates to achieve NATO STANAG 3 protection level against mines and ballistic threats. In addition, the armored cabin is completely airtight thus allowing for its pressurization which would provide NBC (Nuclear, Bacteriological and Chemical) protection. In December 2005, Lithuanian Defence Forces and Sisu Defence signed a 20+ million Euro agreement for the supply of Sisu 8x8 trucks with deliveries scheduled for 2007-2009. The order included an option for additional trucks worth 10 million Euro. The first batch of vehicles handover ceremony was carried out August 30, 2007, in Lithuania.
