Description

The Saab MSHORAD is a short-range mobile air defense system deployed on a 4x4 tactical vehicle and intended to engage a wide range of threats such as fixed and rotary wing aircraft as well as drones, cruise missiles and loitering munitions. The MSHORAD features the Giraffe 1X radar mounted a mobile radar unit (MRU) vehicle with a maximum detection range of 75 kilometers and three roof-mounted RBS 70 NG surface-to-air missile launchers integrated on each of the mobile firing unit (MFU) vehicle. The vehicle also features a command and control (C2) system from Saab. The new air defense system was developed in cooperation by Saab and SVOS and unveiled in March 2022. In December 2022, Latvia placed the firm order for the MSHORAD air defense system to be delivered in 2023.
