ThunderB

The ThunderB is a long endurance small tactical unmanned air vehicle (STUAV) developed by BlueBird Aero Systems to perform Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance (ISTAR) missions. The ThunderB is equipped with a triple CCD sensor, a cooled infrared camera and a laser pointer payload. It can be utilized for peacekeeping, low intensity conflict, security, law enforcement, search and rescue (SAR), disaster relief and commercial applications missions. Besides, the ThunderB has the ability to carry two small cargoes inside capsules under the wings that can be dropped with precision accuracy over the battlefield. The cargo capsule can be fitted with a parachute to avoid damage. The groundbreaking 32-kg ThunderB STUAV can stay airborne for over 24 hours operating at a distance of up to 150 kilometers while being controlled by a single Ground Control Station (GCS). The launch is carried out using a catapult and is recovered via a parachute with the aircraft being equipped with airbags to avoid damage when impacting the ground.
