Description

The Katran is an unmanned reconnaissance and strike rotorcraft developed to conduct operations from Russian surface ships using folding rotor blades. Besides, strike and surveillance missions the unmanned rotorcraft is able to conduct electronic attack (EA) missions carrying an electronic warfare (EW) payload. The Katran is able to carry a 120 kilogram payload and achieve a ceiling of 2,000 meters and a maximum speed of 130 kilometers per hour. It is said that the aircraft is able to stay airborne for extended periods of time compared with conventional helicopters. Strike missions can be accomplished by firing Ataka missiles and unguided rockets. Reconnaissance missions require of an electro-optical payload. The Katran was showcased to the public during May 2018 military parade in Moscow.
