JH-20
JH-20
The People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) JH-XX/JH-20 is a new generation medium bomber being developed by China as the replacement for the H-6K medium bomber along with the H-20 long range bomber. The existence of the JH-XX/JH-20 bomber was revealed by the US intelligence community in January 2019. The JH-XX may feature stealth technology combining features from bombers and fighter jets. The combat radius may vary between 1,000 to 2,000 nautical miles. Following years of rumors, the first JH-20 aircraft prototype performed its maiden flight in December 2024 flying along a twin-seater J-20S multi-role fighter. The aircraft is identified as a sixth-generation combat aircraft with air-to-air and air-to-ground strike capabilities. The JH-20 prototype features a tailless delta/triangular airframe, with very low radar signature, and can fly at supersonic speeds. The JH-20 medium bomber is expected to enter service within the PLAAF in the early 2030s.
