Description
The Italian Navy’s Quirinale is a hydro-oceanographic ship intended to strengthen the country’s research and maritime security capabilities under NIOM program. The 110-meter vessel has a displacement of 6,000 tons and her low-emission electric propulsion system allows to navigate in environmentally sensitive areas. The Quirinale has a crew of 140 people including scientific personnel and can operate in extreme climates. The ship can operate unmanned underwater vehicles. The ship was ordered in December 2022 and is expected to be commissioned in 2027 or 2028.
