Description

The Sea Tiger, also known as DRBV 15 in French naval service or TRS 3004 by its former manufacturer Thomson-CSF, is an S-band naval radar designed for air and surface surveillance and target designation. Operating with a peak power of 60 kW and an average power of 1 kW, it has an instrumented range of 72 nautical miles (133 km) and a beamwidth of 1.65°. It features a transmitter with a coherent amplifier chain that emits intra-pulse modulated (linear frequency-modulated) pulses, which are compressed to 0.5 µs from original pulsewidths of 5.5 or 12 µs. Delivered between 1987 and 1999, this system is suitable for medium to large ships and can be integrated with weapon systems; the Sea Tiger Mk2 (DRBV 15C) variant incorporates a new planar antenna for enhanced jamming resistance.
