Kornet-EM
Kornet-EM

The Kornet-EM is an advanced, compact, guided missile system designed to provide offensive and defensive capabilities in support of land forces and is mounted on a Tiger 4x4 multipurpose wheeled vehicle. The missile system can be employed in various battlefield scenarios including urban terrain. Kornet-EM is also intended to surpass previous wire-guided missile limitations in terms of range, speed and operational flexibility such as firing the missile on the move. The Kornet-EM builds on the Kornet-E experience with a jamming resistant laser beam riding guidance system and the ability to fire on the move. Besides, the new missile family encompasses the fire-and-forget principle using an automatic laser beam riding guidance system. All together, this new missile system offers high precision for engagement of visible targets while being immune to radio-electric and optical jamming. KBP unveiled the Kornet-EM weapon system at the Moscow Airshow (MAKS) in August 2011. Overall, the Kornet-EM can engage surface and airborne targets at ranges between 150 meters and 10 kilometers utilizing two different missiles with high jamming immunity. Its automatic target tracking system allows to engage two different targets simultaneously or a single target with two missiles maximizing the hit probability or to get over active protection systems. The missile system can be installed on a single Tiger 4x4 high mobility multipurpose vehicle with eight (two four-missile launchers) missiles ready to fire and another eight missiles carried by the vehicle for re-load. Each four-missile launcher can be unfolded and ready to fire in about seven seconds. Each 67-kg launch unit is fitted with high resolution TV plus a third generation infrared sight as well as laser rangefinder and laser missile guidance channel. The Kornet-EM missiles can also be deployed using a remotely-controlled tripod.
