AN/FPS-129
The AN/FPS-129 “Have Stare,” later renamed “Globus II,” is an X-band (9.5–10.5 GHz) early-warning radar with mechanical tracking, operating at a peak power of 200 kW and an instrumented range of 40,000 km. Manufactured by Raytheon E-Systems in the United States, its primary design purpose was intelligence data collection against ballistic missiles, with secondary missions including aerodynamic and satellite tracking. The radar features a 27-meter diameter Cassegrain antenna with a 3.15-meter sub-reflector, all enclosed within a 35-meter diameter radome. Initially operational in 1995 at Vandenberg Air Force Base, California, it was dismantled in late 1998, relocated to Vardø, and became operational there around 2003.
